Run Away To The Resting Place B&B in Grey County

Sweeping views of the hills surrounding the Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery is the first thing you notice upon arrival. Located near Meaford and Owen Sound. It’s a perfect spot for anyone wishing to sample some wine and get-away for a couple of days and enjoy the peaceful countryside. Adjacent to the winery is The Resting Place B&B.

Open year-round; it’s the most picturesque place I’ve come across in Grey County. Just imagine relaxing on a patio surrounded by tranquil scenery, sipping a Coffin Ridge artisanal wine (made on the premises) or you’re morning coffee overlooking the vineyard and the distant bay. The winery owners, Neil and Gwen Lamont lived in this house until they decided to move to a second home to separate their personal living space from the business.

The B&B has three rooms and very creative names. The Relics Room, where I spent one night, has a king bed, shower, and Jacuzzi tub. Absolutely the perfect room for the early riser; located on the main floor it provides easy access for a morning stroll through the gardens. The Widows Walk is on the second floor, has a queen-size bed with an ensuite bath. The Writers Haunt, located over the garage, is a private cabin. It has a king-sized bed, a full kitchen, and a fireplace and looks over the pool and winery below.

The public spaces are inviting with deep leather chairs in the living room to a book-filled library. On the second floor, a home theatre is available to guests to watch movies from a well-stocked library of titles.

In the morning the on-site Innkeeper serves a delicious breakfast. The table is laid with quiches (smoked salmon), blueberry coffee cake, and in-season fruits along with other freshly-baked treats, yogurt, and juices, coffee, and tea.

While you are staying at The Resting Place don’t forget to visit the Coffin Ridge Winery for a tasting or to pick up a bottle for your evening entertainment.
