On a recent getaway to Phoenix Arizona, I was fortunate enough to stay at one of Scottsdale’s premier resorts, The Scott Resort and Spa, and it was fantastic. The beautiful warm climate draws visitors of all ages to this prime location in central Scottsdale. It’s a perfect base, just west of Phoenix, for shopping, sightseeing or just kicking back in a picturesque desert oasis.
The new owners have spent $15 million on renovations with spectacular results, the common areas including restaurant, bar, and lobby are warm and inviting,

The Lobby
Walkthrough the front door and slide into Hemingway’s old Havana. The lobby, with its Cuban inspired furniture and plants, give the space a natural Bauhaus Spanish vibe – a great place for guests to hang out, they even have board games scattered about for your use.

Outdoor Spaces and Chill Zones
The impressive indoor seamlessly merges with the outdoor patio, where you can take the desert night air or a swim in the pool. There are fire pits, tons of seating and palm trees, everything you could possibly want in a desert oasis, including a beach.

Placed amidst the botanical gardens are two sparkling pools, perfect for a cooling dip on a hot afternoon.

Next to the largest pool (adults only) is the Canal Club Bar where they serve pretty umbrella cocktails, sip on a pina colada poolside or rent a cabana for more comfort and privacy.
The staff and service are truly outstanding before you drop your beach bag, someone is heading your way with towels.

Cool Eats At The Canal Club Restaurant
The house restaurant, The Canal Club, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner – it’s American fare with a contemporary Cuban twist. Try starting your day with a breakfast of avocado toast and eggs, a side of spicy potatoes and bacon. The house-made Churros (donuts) are delicious and served with white Chocolate Anglaise and Guava Jam, a wonderful sweet finish to any meal

Crafty Cocktails At The Canal Club Bar

The Canal Club Bar is the gathering place in the evening for smart cocktails – try one of their well-crafted signature cocktails like Sin & Santeria a Vodka and citrus drink, or the Green Bird which gin enthusiasts would enjoy. This is also where you can get a light snack when feeling a bit peckish or a caffeine fix – latte’s, expressos and other coffee beverages are all available.

Guest Rooms

The rooms are just as spectacular as the lobby and grounds. They’re designed with relaxation in mind – spacious, with mirrors, walnut-colored wood accents, tropical chandeliers, and a comfortable bed ladened with luxury linens.
Amenities include Nespresso machines, plush bathrobes, minibars, safes, and flat-screen TVs. There’s a minibar filled with drinks and snacks; the crystal glasses, shakers, and ice bucket add a nice touch.
The bathroom features a large rainfall shower and is well stocked with Lather organic toiletries.

The balcony has comfy chairs and a view of the lagoon or pools. My room was by the pool area which becomes the busiest hob of the resort, but despite its nearness, the sounds of laughter and splashing never filtered through my patio doors.
